CYGNUS Immersive Light Installation Performance
On 18-19 December, a light installation was performed at the International Brand Conference Istanbul. One of the rare examples of light performance in Turkey, the project was implemented with the partnership of Bi’Şeyler New Media Works and Ouchhh; with the contributions of Panpiper in music design and Staras in technical works.
The light installation was performed in the 2400-m2 conference hall of Hilton Bomonti using 46 Clay Paky Sharpies and 2 Atmosphere Hazers to an audience of approximately 2000 in two days.
In the project produced by Burcu Ece Yılmaz and Gökhan Okuyucu, first the music was created by Mehmet Ünal from Panpiper. The lighting design which was created by Ouchhh creative director Ferdi Alıcı and team member Eylül Duranağaç was programmed by Sezgin Karaağaç from Staras by structuring each individual light.
CYGNUS, the main theme of the performance, had the viewers experience a black hole journey in the center of the light paths.
«CYGNUS is a constellation, home to CYGNUS X-1, a galactic X-ray source believed to be a stellar mass black hole, one created from the collapse of a massive star about 5 million years ago. It is one of the strongest sources of X-ray emissions discovered and was the first X-ray source that was widely accepted to be a black hole candidate. It is about 6,100 light years distant from Earth with an event horizon of about 44 km and a solar mass of 8.7 times that of the Sun.»
