To celebrate five weeks of magical musical encounters in Madrid, the Red Bull Music Academy is proud to present an unprecedented audiovisual show in the very heart of the city.

For the first time ever, the whole interior of the Palacio de Cibeles will be transformed into a space for sonic and visual creation – an audiovisual performance, conceived to communicate with the unique characteristics of this landmark building. Bridging the digital and the analogue, the 90-minutes show by artist collective Klang! combines handcrafted structures with cutting-edge, computer-animated motion graphics. While the sounds are performed live by 15 outstanding music makers from all around the globe – from China to Peru, New Zealand and the UK – the visuals will be created in real time: by the audience itself. A total of three visual modules encourage visitors to join the Klang collective in their creative process, directly translating inspiration into visions of sound. The resulting visuals and colour patterns are projected in all three wings of Madrid’s former Palace of Communications, allowing spectators to experience creativity in motion. This is global communication, in the truest sense of the word.

Klang! have previously worked with the Instituto Cervantes, Sónar Festival, MTV, the São Paulo Museum of Image and Sound, the Frankfurt book fare, as well as creating music for the ’98 Expo in Lisbon.

All performers on the night are alumni of the Red Bull Music Academy including Dorian Concept (Ninja Tune, Vienna), New York’s future soul sensation Jesse Boykins III, Doc Daneeka (50WEAPONS, London), Mexico-based pop experimentalist Andrea Balency, and Shanghai’s Cha Cha who has collaborated with artists as varied as Kode9 and Jimi Tenor.
